Catena Alamos Pinot Noir Seleccin 2013 Catena Alamos Pinot Noir Selección 2013

This wine qualifies as "one step up" from the standard Alamos range and when you've tasted it you'll see why. Pinot Noir can be a very difficult grape to grow, but Nicolas Catena has it spot on here, but don't expect a Grand Cru Burgundy. This wine offers fresh red fruit character and an attractive palate that you'll very rarely find in France.

50 % of the Pinot Noir grapes were harvested from Catena's Adrianna Vineyard and 50% from the Domingo Vineyard. Both vineyards grow Pinot Noir clone 115.

100% Pinot Noir

The grapes underwent a 2-4 day cold maceration at 8º C before being innoculated with selected yeast to undergo an 7-9 day fermentation at a maximum temperature of 24ºC.

The final stage of alcoholic and all malolactic fermentation took place in barrel with battonage practiced. The wine was then matured in French and American oak for 5 - 7 months.

Alamos Pinot Noir 2012 is ia rich violet colour with red hues. It offers fresh aromas of strawberries and red fruit. The body is soft and gentle with a supple texture, displaying jammy red fruit flavours. Finishes long with ripe tannins and balanced acidity.
