LUSCO DO MIO ALBARIO - RAS BAIXAS DO 2007 LUSCO DO MIÑO ALBARIÑO - RÍAS BAIXAS DO 2007

José Antonio Lopez, the owner of Lusco do Miño, may well be single-handedly responsible for the rebirth of greatness in Rias Baixas, and the global recognition of Albariño as one of the distinctive regional white wines of Europe. The result is one of the best examples Albariño to come out of Spain!

VINEYARD
The vineyards face the Atlantic Ocean most visitors are surprised by the verdant vegetation of Galicia. The tiny vineyards (av. approx 0,5 hectares) are widely spread around the region, and are typified by the Pergola training system, which allows free circulation of air and helps prevent disease. The granite subsoils contribute to the mineral qualities of the wine

GRAPE VARIEITIES
100% Albariño

VINIFICATION
Slow, cool fermentation (13-14°C) in temp. controlled stainless steel tanks

TASTING NOTE
The 2007 Lusco do Miño Albarino is a serious white wine: bone dry, full-bodied, and naturally made. It sports a bright sun pale golden colouer with hints of pale green. There are scents of apricot, pear, honeysuckle and slate issue on the nose. This follows through on the palate, with rich stone fruits and a citrus tang, all wrapped up in a long, dry and lingering finish, not unlike the finest Viognier from Condrieu appellation.
