JOHN DUVAL JOHN DUVAL "ENTITY" 2008

John's aim with Entity is to produce a wine true to the Barossa Valley, variety, and vintage. It is approachable in its youth but with ample structure and fruit depth to allow great potential for improvement in the bottle, under good cellaring conditions, for at least 10 years.

ONLY AVAILABLE IN UNSPLIT CASES OF 6

VINEYARD
The Shiraz for this wine was sourced from old vineyards from the Krondorf, Stockwell, Light Pass and Marananga regions in the Barossa Valley.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Shiraz

VINIFICATION
Fermentation with submerged cap in both traditional, old open tanks and small, stainless steel fermenters.

All the wine was aged in barrel for 18 months. 30% was new, fine grained French oak, and the balance 2, 3 and 4 year old French and American oak hogsheads (300l). Some batches also finished fermentation in new barrels.

TASTING NOTE
Intense black/red in colour, with a powerful perfume of youthful black and blueberry fruit, with some savoury French oak notes.

On the palate it is rich and generous, with excellent concentration of dark, intense fruit and tightly-knit, well balanced spice and tannins from the oak ageing. Restrained power which suggests longevity, combined with approachable fruit character.
