Catena Alamos Malbec 2012 Catena Alamos Malbec 2012

Catena are arguably the best producer in Argentina and their basic level Malbec displays all the characteristics of the grape that Argentina has made its own. Showing ripe dark berry fruit along with nice spicy notes. The finish is long with sweet ripe tannins holding everything together.

From Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, the grapes for this wine are sourced from four specific vineyards: La Consulta, Tupungato, Lunlunta, and Agrelo

100 % Malbec

The wine was fermented using selected yeast at a maximum fermentation temperature of 28°C, for 9-15 days, with maceration on the skins of 2-4 days. The resulting wine was then matured for 6 - 9 months in French and American (25% of which was new).

The 2011 Alamos Malbec has a dark purple colour with violet highlights. The nose offers bright black cherry aromas with light floral notes and a touch of toast. The body is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice from light oak aging. The finish shows ripe, silky tannins.
